All Abilities Program

All-Abilities Basketball Program

As WDABA’s continued dedication to ensuring its membership reflects the diversity of its local community and commitment to inclusion, the association is excited to announce the introduction of an All-Abilities Basketball Program which will be launched at the Warragul Leisure Centre and Bellbird Park in Drouin.

The All-Abilities Basketball Program is an inclusive program created to boost sports and recreation opportunities for people with a disability. The program aims to introduce participants to basketball with the opportunity to develop important coordination and motor skills while providing the chance to meet new friends in a fun, low-pressure environment.

All sessions will be conducted in a relaxed and lowkey atmosphere while utilising different coaching methods to stimulate each participant’s learning processes. Although there are no full games of basketball played during these sessions, participants will learn a variety of drills and skills as well as the rules of the game to prepare them for future basketball games.

Basketballs and equipment will be provided for use during the session but if participants would like to bring their own basketball, they are more than welcome to do so.
