Warragul Warriors Junior Representative Squad Progam 2025 / 2026
Warriors junior (U10-U18) representative squads are designed to promote both individual and team basketball skills and a love of the game. In addition to this, one team from each age group will represent WDABA at the Victorian Country Championships in 2026.
Junior squad representative sides are selected from players that register and attend try out sessions each year and will include over 200 players aged between 8-17 years and over 20 coaches! Every WDABA domestic player is eligible to attend the try outs!
Weekly training sessions will commence immediately after the trial weekends with Tournaments commencing 11th/12th October 2024 (Morwell).
Primary regular training sessions are on Sundays at Warragul Leisure Centre.
Our Warriors program aims to provide:
- Opportunity to compete at an advanced level
- Improved basketball skills and knowledge of the game
- Exposure to different coaches and coaching methods
- Developing new friendships and social networks
With age appropriate considerations, representative basketball is competitive. There are increased expectations of the players to listen, learn and improve their basketball skills and knowledge. Most players enjoy this challenging environment and thrive as a result.
It is important for families to note:
- Trying out for representative basketball does not mean the player is guaranteed placement in a team.
- Players may be allocated specific roles in the rep team that are different to those they assume in their domestic teams.
- Players are not rotated evenly as is often the case in domestic basketball. Players may have more or less time on court during the game, depending on a number of factors including skill level, match-up to opposition players, participation and attendance at training, and performance at the tournament.
