Frequently AskedQuestions

Q: Who is this program for?
Future Warriors Academy is designed for domestic competition players aged 8-12 who want to improve their skills and develop their understanding of representative-level basketball. This program is NOT suitable for complete beginners or players currently in Squad or VJBL programs.
Q: Can my child join if they're in the Country Rep Program (Squad) or VJBL?
No, this program is specifically for domestic players only. It's designed to help players develop the skills needed to make Squad or VJBL teams in the future.
Q: Why are boys and girls separated?
Separate courts with specialised coaches allow for age and gender-appropriate coaching, better peer grouping, and training that addresses different developmental needs and playing styles.
Q: Who will be coaching?
Girls will be coached by Shaylea Kent (Basketball Victoria FDP Hub Lead, elite girls coaching experience). Boys will be coached by Breyton Buysman (Warragul Warriors Big V import, USA elite training experience).
Q: What if I miss a session?
We understand conflicts happen. Unfortunately, we cannot offer make-up sessions or refunds for missed sessions.
Q: Do I need to buy a uniform?
Yes, all new participants must purchase the reversible training jersey ($55). This allows us to run proper scrimmages with opposing teams during sessions. Returning participants from future terms can use their existing jersey.
Q: What is the age cutoff?
Players must be 7-12 years old and must turn 8 by December 31, 2026. This means 7-year-olds are welcome provided they turn 8 in 2026.
Q: Can I register if the program is full?
If we reach capacity (15 girls and/or 15 boys), we will create a waitlist. You'll be notified if a spot becomes available.
Q: What should my child bring?
Basketball shoes, water bottle, and a positive attitude! Reversible jerseys will be distributed after registration.
